Two public hearings scheduled for proposed co-pay increase for transportation-disadvantaged service

TAVARES — The Lake County Department of Community Services, Public Transportation Division, is conducting two public hearings on Thursday, Jan. 24, and Monday, Feb. 11, regarding a proposed co-pay increase for its paratransit service, operating as Lake County Connection, which provides transportation to local residents who are transportation disadvantaged.

The current co-pay is $1 for a one-way trip within Lake County. The proposed rate increase is $2 per one-way trip within Lake County. The Jan. 24 public hearing is scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. in the conference room of the Department of Community Services, located at 1300 S. Duncan Drive (State Road 19), Building E, in Tavares. The Feb. 11 public hearing is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lake County Agricultural Center, located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.

Anyone who is not able to attend either of the public hearings, but would like to submit a comment regarding the proposed co-pay rate increase can leave a detailed message by calling (352) 343-9630 or logging on to www.lakecountyfl.gov, keyword: co-pay. Written comments can also be sent by mail to the Lake County Public Transportation Division at P.O. Box 7800, Tavares, FL 32778-7800. Comments will be received until 5 p.m. on Feb. 11.
