Florida Department of Transportation to discuss future roadway improvements at informational workshop on Dec. 12

MINNEOLA — The public is invited to an informational workshop at Minneola City Hall, located at 800 N. U.S. Highway 27, on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 5:30 p.m. to learn about roadway improvements the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is proposing in Lake and Sumter counties for the next five years.

The Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and FDOT host the workshop, as FDOT representatives will present the tentative work program for District Five for the next five fiscal years, ending in 2012-2013. The presentation will also include consideration of proposed projects of the Florida's Turnpike Enterprise in the area. District Five of FDOT covers a nine-county area of Central Florida that includes Lake and Sumter counties, as well as Brevard, Flagler, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia counties.

Comments from these types of workshops held throughout the region will be used by FDOT to finalize the new work program, which becomes effective July 1, 2008. For more information about the informational workshop, call the Lake-Sumter MPO at (352) 315-0170 or log on to
