Lake-Sumter MPO encourages public to attend Expressway workshop

CLERMONT — The Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is encouraging residents to attend an Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority workshop on Tuesday, Aug. 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at South Lake Charter Elementary School, located at 15220 Hartwood Marsh Road in Clermont.

The public-information workshop is about a recent Expressway Authority study that outlines the need for a potential new roadway connection between State Road 429 in Orange County and U.S. Highway 27 in Lake County. The study includes potential roadway corridors, estimated impacts on the surrounding communities and potential construction costs.

"This is an opportunity for residents to provide feedback on whether Lake County should pursue a user-fee-based expressway from U.S. Highway 27 in south Clermont to the Orlando Beltway [State Road 429]," said T.J. Fish, Executive Director of the Lake-Sumter MPO.

A second public meeting for this study is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Vista del Lago Clubhouse, located at 14465 Vista del Lago Clubhouse in Winter Garden. When arriving for the meeting, attendees will need to stop at the neighborhood entrance of Vista del Lago to let the community attendant know they are attending the public meeting.
